The Canopée lamp’s unique signature comes from how it is manipulated. A lightweight disk of fabric can be tilted like a kite by adjusting three pieces held together by magnets. The balancing system means the user can modulate the light and turn the reflector to highlight a specific area in a room. By simulating a low ceiling, this hanging lamp recreates individual areas as “small shelters” whose intimacy can be regulated by a touch of the finger.
Motivated by the same idea of working with space and gestures in the use of textiles and objects, Juliette Le Göff and Nicolas Verschaeve associate their skills and confront their viewpoints to create coherent projects that offer rational, sensitive solutions that rely on function and effect. Their work as a complementary duo benefits from sharing their very personal approaches.
La particularité de la lampe Canopée réside dans sa manipulation. Un léger disque de textile s’oriente tel un cerf-volant par l’ajustement de trois pièces aimantées. Son système de balancier invite alors à moduler une lumière, intense ou diffuse, et à diriger le réflecteur dans l’espace pour s’approprier un lieu. En simulant un plafond intermédiaire plus proche de l’usager, cette suspension recrée des espaces propres, des petits abris dont l’intimité s’ajuste du bout des doigts.
